Hi, I’ve got a Mini Cooper Sport 2015 that came up with a drivetrain error. I took it to my local Mini Service Centre who informed me that a piece of metal has sheared off in the engine and has been destroyed in the engine and left shards in the oil. They’ve told me I need a new engine as there could be shards rattling around causing damage. They contacted Mini Goodwill who won’t assist with the cost as it’s out of warranty and also I was 3 months late with one service (I was away travelling at the time). Do I have any options going forward ? My car was worth about £8000 with just 42,000 miles on the clock but I’ve now been offered £200 by the garage. It’s currently in the garage with the head off the engine . Any advice would be gratefully appreciated .
