Looking to buy a Mini need help
Looking to buy my first Mini looking at 2 right now need help for what to look for.
First one is a 2008 Cooper S with 29k on it.
Manual transmission.
2nd one is a 2007 Cooper S with 84k on it.
Manual transmission, new timing chain, tensioner, water pump and new clutch.
What do I need to be looking at how often should the timing chain be replaced and any other input will be appropriated.

the n14 engine does suffer from..
timing chain guide rails weaing
vanos solenoid issues
carbon build up
excessive oil consumption
and oil pump failure from higher mileage cars 100k+
A first gen cooper s is a good choise as it has a much stronger engine.

Hi,
buy the best you can afford, keep it well serviced, oil and filter changed every 10000miles or 16000km.only use premium fuel.dont abuse it when it's cold let it warm up first.
you should have no big issues.
above all have fun
