Timing Chain...Not Running..Need HELP
Hi,
New member and new to Minis..... well had one in Europe way back.
Anyway, just purchased a 09 clubman with 1.6L. not running. I removed valve cover and turned engine over manually and it is free. Did this by turning the exhaust cam and all turned in unison but when I turn the intake cam the chain becomes a little loose before turning both cams. I have found a small piece of chain guide laying in front portion of head. Obviously sounds to me as though it needs a new chain, guides....kit. My question is since I can turn engine manually many revolutions what are the possibilities that I can repair and have a running Mini by changing the chain and guides plus tensioner ?????
What else should I check for? Head/valve damage?
All help/suggestions are greatly appreciated for his old retired USAF MSGT. Car is supposed to be a surprise for my wife's birthday in a few weeks, therefore I am working on a budget....hence buying a non running mini and I need to move fast.
Am I in the correct place to post this question?
Looking forward to hearing soon. Thanks......Rednilla
