Hi, I'm considering buying a used mini cooper, 2007, so that's already 10 years old. I may be facing the bias within an mini cooper ownership group, but wanted to get some honest opinions. The mini cooper looks like a fun car to own for obvious reasons, but in my online research the main complaint or negative comments are in regards to the cost to repair or maintain such vehicle? Is that accurate, does it cost a lot to repair a mini cooper?

Also, is it a front wheel drive or rear wheel drive vehicle, or does it depend on the model?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to MINI Cooper Forums! If you can, avoid years 2007-2010 and go with an '11 or newer. The N14 has a lot of issues and if you don't know any of the service records of it beforehand, you may be in for a lot of fixes/repairs. These MINI's do cost more to maintain and upkeep. The MINI's are all FWD unless they're a Countryman All4 (AWD).

You can read up on a lot of information for the R56 model MINI's here: Mini Cooper S R56 (2007-Present) Technical Articles | DIY Guides for maintenance and Repair of Mini Cooper S model years 2007-present | Pelican Parts
