Default Gen 2 Leaking Oil / Told this is normal

Local Mini repair shop says Generation 2 Minis all leak oil. Says this was fixed in generation 3. Do Gen 2 cars normally leak? My 2009 S has three oil sources and an estimate of $1600 to fix.

The first and second gen MINI's do have some known oil leaks. A common one with the R56 is the timing chain tensioner as it has been known to not have been properly torqued at the factory. Also, known leaks can come from the crankshaft seal and/or valve cover. Did they tell you where the leaks are coming from?

My 2007 S had a small leak around the cam cover. That was an easy fix with a new gasket kit. Took about an hour to replace. Other than that I have no leaks at 114K Mi.

My Turbo oil supply line is leaking a bit, not sure if this is a big deal...
